Yesterday, Allison grabbed the rest of our OnSugar brood and took us to the de Young museum. It was a surprise treat -- although I should mention not everyone loves a surprise (yes Phil, I'm talking to you) -- to see the current Chihuly exhibit.
I'm not totally sure how Chihuly and OnSugar go together, but it was nice to get out of the office.
As far as the exhibit goes, I was impressed and underwhelmed at the same time. While it was impressive to see all the pieces in one place, part of what I like about Chihuly is seeing his pieces as installations. When they're displayed somewhere unexpected, they just seem so much more interesting. Seeing them in a museum strangely turned them to "just glass" in my mind.
However, if you're into it, it's definitely worth checking out. Besides, the de Young is a beautiful building, and who doesn't love Golden Gate Park (yes Randall, I'm talking to you).
If you can't make it, then be sure to check out all the photos in my gallery below.
wow, if ever a museum exhibit deserves to be seen high...
