But sadly it's sort of a lobster red in certain areas.
I don't know how it happened, I thought I did the math right, but apparently my skin (which was shamefully pasty considering I'm half Chinese and spent my teenage years in a nice tanned hue) didn't get the memo. I thought the formula was:
Pasty White Skin + 80 Spf (yes, 80!) sunscreen + sunbathing for less than 2 hours = less pasty, hopefully almost tan
Sadly, the formula is actually:
Pasty White Skin + 80 Spf (yes, 80!) sunscreen + sunbathing for less than 2 hours = lobster red in areas.
Don't even ask about Randall, he apparently thought sunscreen = shade from tree, and we all know that math is wrong.
However, I can't complain, we've spent the last few days here in Manuel Antonio at the new sustainable eco resort called Arenas Del Mar (it's our honeymoon, we're splurging). The staff is amazingly friendly, the beach is three minutes away, and we've just come back from a hike through the park (Pablo, our guide was one of the coolest guys!). They greeted us back in the thatched hut reception/bar area with fresh papaya juice, fresh salsa, fried plantains and tortilla chips, and fruit. Really I can't complain.
What I can do though, is try and figure out how on earth I'll cope with leaving. Any suggestions?
